November 29/30, 2003 - Stadskanaal Weekend





This weekend the Amsterdam Staff Band was guest at the
Stadskanaal corps in the North-East of the Netherlands.
The concert was held in a place called Winschoten and was
opened with the piece Vitae Lux an arrangement
of Torstein Aagard-Nilsen.




Special guest Roger Webster playing the cornet solo
"I'd rather have Jesus" by William Himes.




The band playing "Quintessence" by Robert Redhead.




Philip van Dalen en Arend Pietersen standing
in "Amen, Amen" by Brian Bowen.




Roger Webster playing a "swing" version of the well known cornet
solo "Carnaval of Venice" original version written by the
famed 19th-century trumpet and cornet player,
Joseph Jean-Baptiste Laurent Arban.




The ASB playing "The Last Amen" by Peter Graham.




The concert ended with probably the most often performed piece in
the classical trumpet/cornet repertoire "Concert Etude, Op. 48" by
Russian composer Alexander Goedicke.




On the Sunday the band ended the weekend with a concert
at the Stadskanaal corps. Some of the pieces played were
"Shine as the Light" by Peter Graham and euphonium solo
"Meditation" from Thais by Jules Massenet.
