Thijs Musch

Bandmaster Thijs Musch

Thijs Musch is the new conductor of the Amsterdam Staff Band. Thijs was born in Deventer and started playing the cornet when he was only six years old. Seven years later he was admitted to the youth class of the conservatory in Zwolle.

In 1999 he obtained his trumpet degree in classical music, having studied with Susan van Opstal. For his diploma second phase, which he obtained in 2001, he studied with Jos Verspagen.

During his music study Thijs discovered his passion for conducting and in 2000 he graduated as conductor for brass bands and wind orchestras at the conservatory in Zwolle (instructors: Dirk Annema, Gert Jansen en Tymen Botma).

After working as freelance trumpet player for a few years, Thijs is now associated with the Fanfare Band of the Mounted Regiments of the Royal Netherlands Army in Vught. Furthermore he is active with different other orchestras and is often invited as a guest conductor.
